«Yo nací en un surco de judías» by Almealera at the Teatro Cine Realejosverified
On Sunday 25 October at 19:00, the Teatro Cine Realejos hosts «Yo nací en un surco de judías» by Almealera, documentary and object theatre that won the 2026 FETÉN Award for Best Show. Three actresses reproduce word for word the voices of women farmers and herders interviewed across rural Spain. It lasts 70 minutes and is for audiences aged 12 and over. Tickets at the online box office.
Why do fewer and fewer people want to work in farming and livestock? To answer that, Laura Santos travelled 3,635 kilometres through rural, sparsely populated Spain interviewing women farmers and herders. The show grew out of that journey: a sketchbook of illustrations that opens on stage to give voice to six places and six real stories, with apples, cowbells, espadrilles, a toy tractor and piles of hay bales. The three actresses use the verbatim technique to reproduce the words of the people interviewed. The piece was born within the CSIC's FARM Project and brings together art and science.
Written and directed by Laura Santos, with Patricia Arroyo, Belén de Santiago and Laura Santos herself on stage. It lasts 70 minutes, is for ages 12 and over and is part of the Los Realejos council's cultural programme; tickets are sold through its online box office. The performance is on Sunday 25 October 2026, from 19:00 to 20:10, at the Teatro Cine Realejos.
