Isla Calavera, the Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Ciudad de La Laguna, founded in 2017, reaches its tenth edition from 6 to 15 November 2026. Screenings and activities take place at Multicines Tenerife, in the Alcampo La Laguna shopping centre, and the opening and closing galas at the Teatro Leal. The programme brings together the Official Selection of short and feature films, documentaries, classics, the Hecho en Canarias section and the out-of-competition Panorama section, plus a Fan Zone at Multicines Tenerife. The theme of this edition is the 40th anniversary of «The Fly» (1986) by David Cronenberg.
Actress Sean Young and filmmaker Alejandro Amenábar will receive the Premio Isla Calavera de Honor. Sean Young will take part in a special session with a talk after a screening of Ridley Scott's «Blade Runner» (1982), and the festival will hold an event with a screening of «Tesis» (1996), Amenábar's first feature, on its 30th anniversary, followed by a talk with the director and actor Eduardo Noriega. Christopher Lambert and Tom Berenger will also receive the Premio Isla Calavera de Honor, while Lloyd Kaufman and Lone Fleming will receive the Premio Leyenda del Fantástico. The festival is organised by the Asociación Cultural Charlas de Cine, Multicines Tenerife and Tumbaabierta.com, with La Laguna Town Council as main sponsor. In September a limited-time advance full pass went on sale for 100 euros, before the official selection and session times were announced.
