«Refugios antiaéreos de La Laguna. La defensa pasiva civil antiaérea de La Laguna durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial» is a study by Luana Studer Villazán, published by La Laguna council's Heritage department with the collaboration of Taro, Somos Patrimonio. It is the first monograph on a file kept in the Municipal Historical Archive: a project dated 30 November 1940 that planned a network of air-raid shelters and civil defence measures in the historic centre, around the Cathedral, the church of La Concepción, the plaza del Adelantado and the streets Viana and El Remojo. It was never carried out. The book explains why it was drawn up, against the background of the Second World War and the role of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic.
The documents turned up by chance in the mid-1990s, while a council office was being cleared, and the then director of the Municipal Historical Archive, Luis González Duque, added them to its collections. The launch is on Tuesday 20 October 2026 at 18:00 at the Casa Anchieta, with Luana Studer Villazán and the participation of Ricardo Guerra Palmero, doctor in Contemporary History. The event is open to the public; the source does not say whether booking is needed.
