Paquito D’Rivera comes to the Otoño Cultural CajaCanarias with Cuban pianist Pepe Rivero and Colombian vibraphonist Sebastián Laverde, in a concert blending jazz, Afro-Cuban music, Brazilian rhythms and bolero. A clarinettist and saxophonist with more than seven decades on stage and several Grammy awards, he was a founding member of Irakere with Chucho Valdés. Paquito D’Rivera comes to the Otoño Cultural CajaCanarias with Cuban pianist Pepe Rivero and Colombian vibraphonist Sebastián Laverde, in a musical encounter that blends jazz, Afro-Cuban music, Brazilian rhythms and bolero. Over more than seven decades on stage, the clarinettist and saxophonist has kept seeking to connect different musical traditions and has received multiple Grammy awards, both for his jazz work and for his compositions of a classical nature.
He was a founding member, together with Chucho Valdés, of Irakere, a group that helped create its own language within contemporary Cuban music, bringing together jazz, rock, classical music and Afro-Cuban roots. The concert takes place at the Espacio Cultural CajaCanarias on Plaza del Patriotismo in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with tickets on sale. It starts on Friday 27 November 2026 at 20:00.
