Franco Fagioli & Gabetta Consort – Farinelli Programverified
As part of the Antiqva series, countertenor Franco Fagioli and Gabetta Consort, directed by Andrés Gabetta, bring Farinelli Program to the Teatro Pérez Galdós in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: a journey through the musical world of Carlo Broschi, known as Farinelli, with Baroque arias by Porpora, Hasse, Riccardo Broschi and Sellitto and instrumental pieces by Vivaldi and Purcell.
Farinelli Program explores music written for the castrato Carlo Broschi, known as Farinelli, or linked to his name. Franco Fagioli sings arias by Nicola Porpora, Farinelli's teacher, Johann Adolf Hasse, Riccardo Broschi, the singer's brother, and Carlo Sellitto. Gabetta Consort, directed by Andrés Gabetta and playing period instruments, sets them against instrumental works by Antonio Vivaldi and Henry Purcell, including two Vivaldi violin concertos, among them the “Grosso Mogul”.
The concert belongs to Antiqva, the Teatro Pérez Galdós series that takes music from the 12th century to the Baroque as its reference point and opens it to crossovers of styles, disciplines and cultures. It takes place in the Sala Principal in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with doors opening 45 minutes before the start. The concert is on Thursday 26 November 2026 at 20:00.
