Ceremonia Guanche y Rito del Hallazgo de la Virgen de Candelariaverified
The big night of the fiestas: the procession leaves the basilica at 19:15 and at 20:00 the Guanches de Candelaria collective re-enacts the finding of the Virgin on the beach. A procession to the well and fireworks from the pier follow.
This is the central night of the August fiestas. At 19:15 the procession of the Virgin leaves the Basílica de Candelaria for the venue next to the town hall, accompanied by the Las Candelas town band.
At 20:00 the image arrives and the Guanches de Candelaria collective re-enact the finding of the Virgin, with the narration read by Luisa Machado and José Luis de Madariaga; it is broadcast live on La 2 de TVE en Canarias and TV Canaria. A procession to the well follows, with the rector's greeting and the singing of the Ave María, and then a fireworks display from the pier before the procession returns to the church. The basilica stays open all night, with the rosary prayed every hour.
