Baile de magos in the old town of Garachico, part of the Santa Ana and San Roque festivities: traditional dress, parranda bands and dancing in the street.
The baile de magos is the night when the whole town dresses in mago costume (traditional Canarian dress) and comes out to dance in the street. In Garachico it takes place within the Santa Ana and San Roque patron-saint festivities, in the historic centre.
People dance isa, folía and malagueña to live groups, and you do not need to know the steps: you learn by watching. Many locals rent or inherit the costume, but nobody minds if you come in ordinary clothes.
