The Club de buceo El Sebadal is an association of divers based in San Sebastián de La Gomera, by the road up to the hospital. With the support of the town council it has organised try-dive days at Playa de La Cueva to introduce people to scuba diving: they began with a theory session on the basics, the equipment, safety procedures and underwater signals, and every participant went down accompanied by a diver or instructor.
The club also works to look after the sea. Together with AGLAYMA, the island's beach-cleaning association, it has taken part in boat trips to remove sunken tyres from the seabed north of San Sebastián, with the aim of keeping the sea floor around La Gomera as clean as its beaches.
