Iglesia de la Asunción de San Sebastián de La Gomera
Church with 15th-century origins where, by tradition, Columbus prayed before setting sail for the Americas.

The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción stands on Calle Real in San Sebastián de La Gomera, the historic core tied to the preparations for Columbus' first voyage. Its present fabric is mostly 18th-century, though it grew from a 15th-century chapel.
The church blends Mudéjar, Gothic and Baroque styles and preserves mural paintings and a serene atmosphere many visitors highlight. It is one of the essential stops in the town's Columbian quarter.
