Selfiverified
La Salita at the Auditorio de Tenerife presents Selfi. Ser joven en la sociedad del espectáculo, a stage piece from the community project created by Juan Ayala and Miguel Oyarzun and performed by young people from Tenerife. It explores what it means to be a teenager today, in a world of screens inside and outside school, between reality and fiction, taking Guy Debord's The Society of the Spectacle as a starting point.
Selfi. Ser joven en la sociedad del espectáculo is a stage piece from the community project created by Juan Ayala and Miguel Oyarzun, who look at what it means to be a teenager today and how this generation faces a world where screens multiply both outside and inside school, moving constantly between reality and fiction. In the workshop they lead, a group of young people offers a snapshot, a shared portrait and a tutorial on their stage of life. The starting point is Guy Debord's 1967 text The Society of the Spectacle, which prompts adults to rethink what kind of society they want to build and what they are offering and imposing on teenagers.
Schoolchildren from the island take part in these public performances at La Salita in the Auditorio de Tenerife through a project of its Education and Social Area. The piece lasts about 60 minutes. There are two performances, on Saturday 14 November at 19:30 and on Sunday 15 November at 12:00, and the first one, on Saturday, will be followed by a talk with the audience. This performance is on Sunday 15 November 2026 at 12:00.
