Quiso Negro - Esther Gutin (Danza a escena dance circuit)verified
As part of the national Danza a escena circuit, ‘Quiso Negro’ by choreographer Ester Guntín comes to the Guiniguada. The piece reinterprets tarantism, a ritual that arose in southern Italy in the Middle Ages around the symbolic bite of a spider, and explores the idea of death through movement. Recommended from age 8, it lasts 60 minutes. Tickets cost 4 to 15 euros.
‘Quiso Negro’ uses acoustic, kinetic and iconographic patterns in a ritual way and moves through scenes of physical possession and catharsis. The first part explores the preparation of the cult, while the second focuses on physical exhaustion, with complex rhythms inspired by the pizzica salentina, the traditional dance of Salento. The work received the Institut del Teatre Dance Award 2023 and the MAX Award 2025, and premiered at the Grec Festival 2024.
Concept and direction by Ester Guntín, with six performers on stage. The performance belongs to the theatre’s Guiniguada en danza strand. Tickets cost between 4 and 15 euros. The performance is at Teatro Guiniguada in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on Saturday 31 October 2026 at 20:00.
