Quiero comerme tu páncreas (Kimi no suizô wo tabetai), directed by Shin’ichirō Ushijima (Japan, 2018), is part of Filmoteca Canaria’s Japón se anima cycle. Haruki Shiga is a secondary school student with no interest in other people who spends his time reading. In a hospital waiting room he finds a book titled “Living with Death”: the secret diary of Sakura Yamauchi, a popular girl in his class, who has decided to tell no one about her terminal illness and to make the most of the time she has left.

What first looks like a teenage love story becomes a film about friendship, loss and the will to live. The title refers to an old belief from traditional Asian medicine, which the film turns into a symbol: wanting to carry a part of someone within. It runs 108 minutes and is screened in the original language with Spanish subtitles at Espacio La Granja. Admission is free with an invitation collected in advance online or at the box office. The screening is on Thursday 22 October 2026 at 19:00.
