El Almacén, the Cabildo de Lanzarote y La Graciosa's cultural venue in Arrecife, hosts a conversation between Lanzarote-born writer Nieves Rodríguez Rivera and Mare Cabrera about the new edition of Piel de cebolla. In this novel the author builds an intimate, unsparing story in which memory, landscape and identity are intertwined with the complexities of family ties, centred on the relationship between a mother and a daughter. The new edition is a chance to return to a book that explores the marks family relationships leave on how we understand who we are.
Nieves Rodríguez Rivera holds a degree in Spanish Philology from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, teaches at a secondary school on Gran Canaria and writes opinion pieces and reviews for the press. In 2019 she won the ENMA Poetry Prize of the Fundación José María de Llanos and was a finalist for the Premio Alfeizar de Novela with Piel de cebolla, and in 2023 she published Tierra quemada with Ediciones Remotas.
