La Salita at the Auditorio de Tenerife in Santa Cruz stages Ictus (Anatomía de La última lección de Castelao), the new project by Galician company Chévere, co-produced with the Centro Dramático Nacional. A documentary play about historical memory built around the last painting Castelao signed. It is performed in Spanish with sign language integrated on stage and live audio description, and runs for 110 minutes.

Ictus is a play about memory, about the link between good memory and good democracy and about the unresolved traumas of historical memory. Its thread is A derradeira leición do mestre, the painting known as the Galician Guernica and the last work signed by Alfonso R. Castelao, commissioned in 1945 for an event in memory of Alexandre Bóveda, a tax official shot by the 1936 coup plotters. It opens with a woman who suffered a stroke during the event at which the Galician government received the painting in Santiago de Compostela in October 2018, and who needs to rebuild that day to fill the gaps in her memory.

Galician company Chévere, co-producing with the Centro Dramático Nacional, builds a documentary piece that weaves together the voices of witnesses connected to the painting, with audio description woven into the story through a narrating voice and sign language on stage. It runs for 110 minutes. General tickets cost 9 € and under-30 tickets 6 €. There are three performances in La Salita: Friday 11 December at 19:30, followed by a talk with the audience, Sunday 13 December at 12:00, and this one on Saturday 12 December 2026 at 19:30.
