FINADOS is the La Laguna council's culture programme for the Noche de Finados, the Canarian night of the dead: a staged piece with live music about traditional Canarian witchcraft, coordinated by historian and popular-history writer Néstor Verona. The story is set in a mid-altitude village in the first half of the 20th century, when almost everyone still lived off the land, and tells a grim tale full of superstition and fear of the evil witches of popular belief. Antonio Conejo, Mar Gutiérrez and Alicia Rodríguez Reyes take part, together with the Parranda El Abuelo, who sing from the Canarian repertoire and perform the traditional Ranchos de Ánimas of the night of the dead. Folklorist Dulce Rodríguez de la Rosa advises on the traditional costumes.

The performance at the Espacio El Polvorín in Taco is on Thursday 5 November at 19:30, with free entry until the room is full. The show is not recommended for children under 12. FINADOS is also staged on 1 November at the Exconvento de Santo Domingo (18:00 and 20:00, tickets on Tickety), on 12 November at the Centro Parroquial in Tejina and on 23 November at CC El Tranvía in La Cuesta, the last two at 19:30 with free entry.
