On 26 October 1971 the Teneguía volcano erupted in Fuencaliente, in the south of La Palma. For the 55th anniversary, the Canary Islands Volcanological Institute (INVOLCAN) and Fuencaliente de La Palma Town Council offer a guided walk to read the geological memory of 1971 and the volcanic landscape on the ground.
The walk «Entre Malpaíses y Sal: La Ruta del Teneguía» starts on Saturday 24 October 2026 at 10:00 at the San Antonio Volcano Visitor Centre and ends at Fuencaliente lighthouse. The announcement gives no price, distance or booking details, so it is worth checking with the organisers beforehand. The day before, on Friday 23, there is a talk with documentaries at the Los Canarios Cultural Centre.
