El tiempo contigo (Tenki no ko), written and directed by Makoto Shinkai (Japan, 2019), closes Filmoteca Canaria’s Japón se anima cycle, which presents it as the second film in the director’s disaster trilogy. In the summer of his first year of upper secondary school, Hodaka runs away from home on a remote island and arrives in Tokyo, where he finds work writing for a dubious occult magazine while the rain never stops. There he meets Hina, a cheerful and determined girl who lives with her little brother and can stop the rain just by praying.
The film also offers a nod to those who follow Shinkai’s work: cameos that link directly to Your Name. It runs 112 minutes, with music by RADWIMPS, and is screened in the original language with Spanish subtitles at Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Admission is free with an invitation collected in advance online or at the box office. The screening is on Thursday 3 December 2026 at 19:00.
