Rondalla contest, Santa Cruz Carnival 2027verified
Competition of rondallas within the official programme of the Carnaval de Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2027. Unlike most carnival contests it is not held at the Recinto Ferial but at the Auditorio de Tenerife, on Sunday 31 January 2027 at 17:00.
The Certamen de Rondallas is part of the official programme of the Carnaval de Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2027. It takes place on Sunday 31 January 2027 at 17:00 at the Auditorio de Tenerife, on Avenida de la Constitución 1 by the sea, rather than at the Recinto Ferial where most carnival contests are held.
Rondallas are traditional Canarian plucked-string ensembles with singers. In the certamen they perform one after another in the concert hall of the Auditorio, which makes this one of the seated, sung-repertoire dates of the programme rather than a street event.
The theme of the 2027 Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival is “Roma Eterna: El Imperio del Carnaval” (Eternal Rome: the Empire of Carnival). Forty years on, the carnival returns to Rome, the 1987 theme and the first to give the whole celebration a single look and story.
