Bruce Liuverified
The Auditorio de Tenerife programmes a recital by Bruce Liu in the Sala de Cámara, part of the piano concerts of the Ciclo de Cámara, with works by Ligeti, Beethoven, Chopin, Ravel, Debussy, Mompou and Liszt. The programme brings together Beethoven's Moonlight and Waldstein sonatas, the two nocturnes of Chopin's Op. 27, Ravel's Alborada del gracioso and Liszt's Rhapsodie espagnole. Tickets cost 15 €.
The recital opens with Fanfares, the fourth study from György Ligeti's first book, and continues with Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C sharp minor, Op. 27 No. 2, the Moonlight. Next come the two nocturnes of Chopin's Op. 27, in C sharp minor and D flat major, and the Alborada del gracioso that Ravel drew from Miroirs. After the interval come Debussy's Rêverie, Beethoven's Sonata No. 21 in C major, Op. 53, the Waldstein, Federico Mompou's two glosses on Au clair de la lune and, to close, Franz Liszt's Rhapsodie espagnole.
Bruce Liu won first prize at the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition held in Warsaw in 2021 and has established himself as one of the most compelling pianists of his generation, praised as much for his technique as for his artistic curiosity. Born in Paris and raised in Montreal, he studied with Richard Raymond and Dang Thai Son, is an exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist and received the Opus Klassik Young Talent of the Year award in 2024 for his debut album, Waves. The recital takes place on Tuesday 11 May 2027 at 19:30 in the Sala de Cámara of the Auditorio de Tenerife, with tickets at 15 €.
