Ausencia Activa: sculptures by Óscar Deluis at Fundación MAPFRE Canarias in La Laguna
The La Laguna branch of Fundación MAPFRE Canarias, on Plaza de San Cristóbal, shows Ausencia Activa until 8 January 2027, an exhibition by sculptor Óscar Deluis about emptiness and matter, with pieces in which metal turns from structure into a trace of thought. It is open Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00, and admission is free.
Ausencia Activa brings together recent work by sculptor Óscar Deluis, who treats emptiness as an active element: the form is defined as much by what is there as by what is missing. According to the foundation, the series turns towards what the artist calls inverse thinking, where instead of taking away he adds, and the volume embraces the void rather than giving way to it. Metal stops being mere structure and becomes a trace of thought.
The exhibition can be visited from 8 October 2026 to 8 January 2027 at the La Laguna branch of Fundación MAPFRE Canarias, Plaza de San Cristóbal 20, second floor, a short walk from the Convento de Santo Domingo. Admission is free. Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00-13:00 and 18:00-21:00; the foundation gives no weekend or public holiday hours.
