Also sprach Zarathustra

Concerts

Concert A18 of the Sinfónica de Tenerife in the Sala Sinfónica of the Auditorio de Tenerife, with Pablo González as principal guest conductor and David Kadouch at the piano. The programme brings together The Death of Tintagiles by Charles Martin Loeffler, Grieg's Piano Concerto and Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra, which closes the season Libertad o destino.

The season Libertad o destino culminates with one of the most famous openings in the history of music, the sunrise of Also sprach Zarathustra. Inspired by Nietzsche, Strauss's work poses in musical terms questions about knowledge, consciousness, transcendence and the possibility of going beyond inherited limits. The evening opens with The Death of Tintagiles by Charles Martin Loeffler, a score of enigmatic atmosphere.

Before the Strauss, David Kadouch is the soloist in Grieg's Piano Concerto, a work of melodic freshness and romantic drive. Pablo González, principal guest conductor, is on the podium. This is the second of the two performances, on Friday 11 June; the first takes place on Thursday 10. A pre-concert talk is given at 18:30 in the Sala Avenida by José Lorenzo Chinea. Access is allowed only to those over five years of age.
