The bicycle ring race reaches its thirtieth edition in El Calvario, a traditional Canarian game on two wheels.
The sortija is a traditional Canarian game: the rider passes at speed and has to spear, with a pointed stick, a ring hanging from a rope stretched across the street. In Santa Úrsula it is done on bicycles, and this is the thirtieth edition of the Genaro Martín Alonso Critérium, run alongside the 10th Pancho Aranzazú Trophy.
It is a free street event and one of the most spectacular on the programme: hitting that ring at speed takes real skill, and the crowd knows it.
