XXIX Peregrinación a Candelaria de los Bomberos de Santiago del Teideverified
The walking pilgrimage to Candelaria organised by the Santiago del Teide firefighters reaches its twenty-ninth edition. This year, for safety reasons, the march sets off from La Laguna along the old road. There are pick-up points in Puerto de Santiago, Tamaimo and Valle, and registration costs 10 €.
The Santiago del Teide firefighters organise a walking pilgrimage to the basilica of Candelaria every August. This is the twenty-ninth edition.
An important change from other years: for safety reasons, in 2026 the march does not start in Santiago del Teide but in La Laguna, along the old road.
Pick-up is at 5:00 and departure from la Concepción at 7:00. The pick-up points are Puerto de Santiago (at the post office), Tamaimo (Disa Tamaimo) and Valle (plaza de la Iglesia). Registration costs 10 € and is arranged with the organisers.
It is a long walk that starts before dawn: broken-in shoes, water, and a head torch for the first stretch.
