One of Tenerife's biggest seafaring celebrations, with the embarkation of the Virgen del Carmen at the fishing dock.
The festivities of the Virgen del Carmen are among the most important in Puerto de la Cruz, within the Grandes Fiestas de Julio. Around 16 July, after the solemn Eucharist in honour of the Virgen del Carmen and San Telmo, a land-and-sea procession winds through the old town to the fishing dock, where thousands gather to watch the fishermen embark the images for the maritime procession that follows. It is one of the most moving and crowded seafaring scenes in northern Tenerife.
