Tensamba Brazilian afternoon at Casa Anchieta with Rebeca Mora Tríoverified
Casa Anchieta in La Laguna devotes an afternoon to Brazil as part of the 23rd Festival Tensamba. At 17:00 Glauce Lima’s photo exhibition “Belém do Pará, entre dos tiempos” opens, followed at 17:30 by prints by Johann Moritz Rugendas. Then come Julio Du Norte with “El vinilo en la música brasileña” (18:00), an installation in tribute to Tomi Cruz (19:30) and a concert by Rebeca Mora Trío (20:00). Free admission.
As part of the 23rd Festival Tensamba, a festival of Brazilian culture held in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Palma and La Gomera from 4 September to 7 November 2026, Casa Anchieta opens the afternoon with two exhibitions. In “Belém do Pará, entre dos tiempos”, Glauce Lima’s photographs follow the city’s streets and inequalities, but also the force of Amazonian nature: roots, humidity and water that transform the architecture. The second show brings together prints by Johann Moritz Rugendas, the German painter, draughtsman and engraver who travelled through Brazil in the 19th century. At 18:00 Julio Du Norte, a Brazilian selector and DJ from Tucuruí, in Pará, now based in Valencia, offers an analogue journey through the musical diversity of Brazil.
At 19:30 an installation pays tribute to Tomi Cruz, whose inspiration was at the origin of the Festival Tensamba in the Canary Islands, and at 20:00 Rebeca Mora Trío play Brazilian popular music, bossa nova, samba and jazz, with influences ranging from Rosa Passos and Elis Regina to Stacey Kent and Ella Fitzgerald. All events are free, the last two until the venue is full, and the exhibitions stay open until 3 October, 10:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00. The afternoon starts on Friday 2 October 2026 at 17:00.
