Solemn Eucharist, procession and blessing of the livestockverified
On Monday 14 September at 11:00 the parish square of the San José district hosts the solemn Eucharist of the Fiestas de San José 2026, led by the reverend Esteban Manuel Rodríguez Herrera and accompanied by the Agrupación Baray of the third age. At the end the procession sets off with the holy image, with the Agrupación Musical XIX de marzo, and it finishes with the traditional blessing of the livestock.
On Monday 14 September at 11:00 the parish square of the San José district hosts the solemn Eucharist of the Fiestas de San José 2026. It is led by the reverend Esteban Manuel Rodríguez Herrera, parish priest of the communities of San José Obrero and San Lorenzo Mártir in La Orotava and of San Antonio de Padua in Puerto de la Cruz, accompanied by the Agrupación Baray of the third age.
When the celebration ends the procession sets off with the holy image along its usual route, accompanied by the Agrupación Musical XIX de marzo, and it finishes with the traditional blessing of the livestock. Blessing the animals is a deeply rooted farming custom in the north of Tenerife and it makes this Monday different from the patron saint's Sunday: the mass is celebrated in the open air, in the square, and not inside the church.
