Dawn salutes and diana floreada with Tamatimbaverified
On Friday the 4th the festivity begins while it is still dark. At 6:00 the salutes ring out in honour of the Virgen del Carmen and the diana floreada sets off, performed by Tamatimba, going through the streets and waking the village with music. It is a short, loud act of the kind that is not announced twice: anyone who wants to see it has to be outside at that hour.
The Fiesta Chica of Puerto de Santiago is held in honour of the Virgen Chica, known locally as Queen of the seas and of the people of Santiago. It is the smaller festivity in the seafaring calendar of Santiago del Teide, organised by the ComisiĂłn de Fiestas together with the village, and it is concentrated in the first weekend of September. Its axis is the public square and the fishing quay.
