Festivals & Pilgrimages

The Romería Marinera of Sardina sets off on Saturday 19 September at 18:00 from the front of the Asociación de Vecinos, within the fiestas in honour of San Pedro González Telmo and Nuestra Señora del Carmen. The procession follows the customary route with carts and folk groups up to the ermita de San Telmo, where the offering to the patron saints takes place. The neighbourhood tenderete and the verbena del Romero follow.

The Fiestas de Sardina del Norte 2026, in honour of San Pedro González Telmo and Nuestra Señora del Carmen, run in Gáldar, in the north of Gran Canaria, from 1 September to 3 October, organised by the Asociación de Vecinos San Pedro González Telmo and the Comisión de Fiestas with the Ayuntamiento de Gáldar. The Romería Marinera is the central event of the first big weekend of the fiestas.

The procession leaves at 18:00 with carts and folk groups along the customary route; carts taking part must sign up beforehand at the association. At the ermita de San Telmo come the offering to the patron saints and the folk performances, presented by Fernando Malaxechevarría Suárez, director of the digital paper Norte Gran Canaria. Then come the tenderete, with tables and chairs on request and no plots reserved, and the verbena del Romero with Juan Antonio Castro and Mixtura Cromática.
