Ricky, el profesor de tenis, a clown solo by José Luis Redondo, comes to Plaza del Príncipe in Santa Cruz de Tenerife as part of the Festival Internacional Clownbaret (FIC) 2026. Ricky was a tennis star in the 1980s until a doping test ended his career, and now he tries to win back his glory on the street. For all ages, 50 minutes, on Saturday 10 October 2026 at 18:30.
José Luis Redondo trained in sports science before specialising in circus and clowning in Madrid (Carampa) and Buenos Aires (Circo Criollo), where he founded the company La Mano Jueves. He has worked at the Teatro Circo Price and with companies such as El Circo de los Horrores and Cruzando el Charco, and now combines that with his solo show Ricky, el profesor de tenis.
Ricky was a tennis star in the 1980s until an unfortunate doping test ended his career. Now, in the middle of a midlife crisis, he takes to the street as an unusual tennis coach, in an interactive show that mixes humour, improvisation and circus skills such as juggling, balancing and acrobatics.
