Bells rung in glory across the town on the Día del Cristoverified
At seven in the morning on the main day, the bells of the Cathedral and of every other church in La Laguna ring in glory. It is not an act you attend, it is one you hear: if you are sleeping in the old town that day, this is what will wake you, and it is worth knowing in advance.
On Monday 14 September 2026 at 07:00 the bells begin to ring in glory in the towers of the Cathedral and of every other church in San Cristóbal de La Laguna. It is the first act of the Día del Cristo, the main day of the fiestas and the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross.
There is no venue and no ticket: it is a sound event that covers the whole historic centre. If you are staying in the centre that night, count it as part of the programme. From there the day runs on: the civic and military procession at 10:00, the reception of the official representation at 10:45, Mass and the procession of return, a sung Mass at 19:00 and the Risco fireworks at 23:00.
