¡Qué movida! Llegaron los 80: Ruta Histórico Teatral de Villa de Mazoverified
A theatrical walking route through the streets of Villa de Mazo set in the 1980s, with morning and afternoon passes and scenes drawn from the town's recent history.
Villa de Mazo town council takes ¡Qué movida! Llegaron los 80 to the streets: a piece of street theatre staged as a walking route through some of the most significant episodes of the 1980s in the municipality. The audience does not simply watch, it takes part in the scenes along the way.
The route covers the oral and musical tradition of neighbourhood gatherings, the rise of the Mercadillo Municipal as the hub of local trade and the transformation of the wine sector. It also recreates the popular guateques, pays tribute to the Borrachito Fogatero, recalls the founding of Unión Deportiva Mazo in 1981 and devotes a scene to the Corpus Christi festival, declared of National Tourist Interest in 1986. A large closing scene rounds off the walk.
There are two sessions on the same day: morning from 10:00 to 13:30 and afternoon from 16:00 to 20:00, with groups setting off every ten minutes. The walk lasts 80 to 90 minutes. Admission is free and no booking is needed. The meeting point is the car park of the town hall’s technical office, and the route ends at the Museo del Bordado y el Corpus (Casa Roja).
It takes place on Saturday 8 August 2026 at the Plaza Pedro Pérez Díaz and the surrounding streets, with morning passes from 10:00 to 13:30 and afternoon passes from 16:00 to 20:00. Organised by Sociedad La Unión and Troysteatro, with the support of the Cabildo of La Palma and Villa de Mazo town council.
