Primer dia del Triduo a la Virgen del Rosarioverified
The first of the three days of the triduum in honour of the Virgen del Rosario, patron saint of Barlovento in the north of La Palma. The central act is the celebration of Mass in the church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, on Calle Venezuela, as part of the town patron saint festivities.
Before the main feast day, the parish of Barlovento devotes three consecutive days to the Virgen del Rosario. This is the first of them and it is marked by Mass in the church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, the building that gives its name to the square next door and to the town festivities themselves.
The triduum belongs to the patron saint programme, in which religious services alternate with the street celebrations. The church stands on Calle Venezuela in the centre of Barlovento and can be reached on foot from anywhere in the village. This is an act of worship rather than a show, which is worth keeping in mind if you attend.
