The paseo romero of Pedro Álvarez opens Tenerife's August calendar of romerías. Neighbours bring out decorated ox carts, dress in traditional magos costume and walk the neighbourhood with folk groups.
As in every Canarian romería, food and local wine are handed out along the way. This is a village celebration, close-up and without a stage: you take part by walking.
