Masdanza Ellas - 31st Masdanza Festivalverified
The 31st MASDANZA, the International Contemporary Dance Festival of the Canary Islands, focuses on four choreographic pieces created by women: ‘Mobile Load’ by Sandra Egido, ‘Supergallo’ by Andrea Catania, ‘Entre maguas’ by Raquel Jara Domínguez and ‘Wolf’ by Fay van Baar. Sensitivity, creativity and a female point of view. Ages 12 and up, 70 minutes. Tickets cost 4 to 10 euros.
‘Mobile Load’ (Alicante) uses weight, inertia and resistance to explore how power circulates through the body within a relationship. In ‘Supergallo’ (San José, Costa Rica), Andrea Catania draws on boxing, and with this piece she won the Best Performer Award at the 13th MASDANZA. ‘Entre maguas’ (Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Madrid) is a journey through the cracks of identity, between memories and folklore.
‘Wolf’ (The Hague), by Fay van Baar, starts from the history of the witch trials and asks how they still affect women today. Tickets cost between 4 and 10 euros. The performance is at Teatro Guiniguada in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on Saturday 10 October 2026 at 20:00.
