Masdanza Cinema: "Dancing Dreams. Aprendiendo con Pina Bausch" (31st Masdanza Festival)verified
As part of the 31st MASDANZA, the International Contemporary Dance Festival of the Canary Islands, and in collaboration with Filmoteca Canaria, the Guiniguada screens ‘Dancing Dreams. Aprendiendo con Pina Bausch’ by Anne Linsel and Rainer Hoffmann. The documentary follows ten months of rehearsals by forty young people from Wuppertal with choreographer Pina Bausch. Suitable for all ages, 92 minutes. Free entry.
Every Saturday for ten months, forty teenagers recruited from different schools in Wuppertal rehearse with Pina Bausch’s company, under the eye of the choreographer herself, to stage the piece ‘Kontakthof’. Some have never danced before while others are accomplished dancers, and as they improve, their opinions and their way of seeing the world mature too.
The Masdanza Cinema strand gathers documentaries, fiction and hybrid formats in which dance takes centre stage and which fall outside the usual distribution circuits. Documentary, Germany, 2010.
