Masdanza Canarias: 31st Masdanza Festivalverified
The 31st edition of Masdanza, the international contemporary dance festival of the Canary Islands, spreads several sessions across the Teatro Guiniguada, devoted to island creation, to international work and to film. This particular session is designed to support and promote choreographers from the islands, and brings together four works never seen before in the festival.
The programme opens with ÁPEIRON by Daniel Navarro, from Santa Cruz de Tenerife: twelve minutes that take their name from that which has no limit and no fixed form, with movement understood as a form of resistance through beauty. Next comes BULLnerable by Andrea Pérez Bueno and Abián Hernández Herrera, arriving from London, on the power of sensitivity and the need to accept uncertainty and emotional exposure.
The third piece is BRUNO by Daniel Fernández, of the Gran Canaria company WETTRIBUTE, summed up by its author in a single line. The evening closes with OJOS DEL OCÉANO by Rocío Erpel and Adrián Martínez of the ESZER company, made between San Bartolomé and Madrid: a reflection on whether we move by choice or by inertia. The session runs 70 minutes and is recommended for ages 12 and over.
