Pianist Mariam Chitanava gives a recital in the Santa Catalina Classics 2026 series at the Salones de Santa Catalina in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. She won her first international competition at 13, trained at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music. The programme brings together Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin and Debussy, followed by a cocktail with the artist.
Mariam Chitanava won her first international competition at the age of 13 and trained at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. She is currently completing her studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music and has held scholarships from the Albéniz Foundation and the Barceló Foundation. She learned Spanish in a short time to speak directly to audiences and has headlined series such as “Mujer y talento”, which give visibility to women’s leadership in classical music.
The programme includes Beethoven’s Sonata No. 17 “The Tempest”; Liszt’s Vallée d’Obermann and Waldesrauschen; Chopin’s Polonaise-Fantaisie Op. 61 and Nocturne Op. 48 No. 2; and three pieces by Debussy, including L’isle joyeuse. Afterwards, a cocktail gives the audience a chance to talk with the artist. Tickets from €20.
