Lanzarote Ensemble: Stabat Mater de Vivaldi y Pergolesiverified
The Lanzarote Ensemble performs the Stabat Mater settings by Vivaldi and Pergolesi, two peaks of the Italian baroque, in the church of San Roque in Tinajo. The concert lasts 60 minutes, is suitable for all audiences and entry is free.
The Lanzarote Ensemble puts the two best known Stabat Mater settings of the Italian baroque side by side: the one by Antonio Vivaldi, written around 1712 for contralto and strings, and the one by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi from 1736, scored for soprano, alto and string orchestra.
The two works offer complementary views of grief, compassion and hope. The concert runs for 60 minutes and takes place in the parish church of San Roque in Tinajo. It is organised by the Cabildo de Lanzarote y La Graciosa together with the parish, and entry is free.
