The hamlet of La Culata closes its Las Nieves festivities with tournaments, an open-air dance, a folk festival, a grand ball and the traditional potato feast.
La Culata, in the municipality of Garachico, celebrates its festivities in honour of Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves. The official programme runs from 5 to 24 August 2026, and these are the events still to come.
Saturday 22 August. 10:00, arrival of the Visión Canarias sound equipment, followed by bouncy castles. 16:00, envite, parcheesi and dominoes tournament. 20:00, mass and procession along the customary route accompanied by the Band of the Nuestra Señora de Los Reyes Cultural Association of Garachico; afterwards, an open-air dance with the orchestras Maraury Band and La Verga.
Sunday 23 August. 11:30, mass and procession along the customary route accompanied by the Municipal Band of El Tanque. 17:00, festival with performances by Cumbres de Erjos, Ecos del Reparo, Parranda Medio Litro and Luis Deseda; to close, an open-air dance with Grupo Teide Swing.
Monday 24 August. 19:00, grand ball with Arguayo Band, followed by the great papada, potatoes only.
The festival committee also keeps up a long-standing joke: during Saturday they «steal» a hen or a cockerel from Lucio for the early-morning meal.
