Juan Palop: «El paisaje como infraestructura» – Lanzarote Architecture Week 2026verified
Urban architect Juan Palop gives the first of two talks organised by Lanzarote's Official College of Architects for Architecture Week 2026: «El paisaje como infraestructura. Ensayos en territorios áridos» (Landscape as infrastructure: essays on arid territories). He looks at how landscape and public space can take on infrastructure roles for water, energy and waste. At El Almacén in Arrecife, free with an invitation.
Lanzarote's Official College of Architects (COALZ) is staging two talks as part of Architecture Week 2026, and the first belongs to architect and urban planner Juan Palop-Casado with «El paisaje como infraestructura. Ensayos en territorios áridos». His starting point is the shift from large centralised systems towards more distributed models for managing water, energy and waste, a change that asks landscape and public space to take on infrastructure functions instead of serving only as a backdrop. Palop founded and directs LPA Studio, based in the Canary Islands, trained in Las Palmas, at Oxford Brookes and at Harvard, and led the Arrecife, Capital de la Reserva de la Biosfera project.
The talk takes place at El Almacén on Calle José Betancort in Arrecife, lasts about 60 minutes and is recommended for ages 12 and up. Admission is free with an invitation, available online. Organised by COALZ and the Cabildo de Lanzarote y La Graciosa. Wednesday 7 October 2026 at 19:00.
