Tensamba Brazilian day at the Torre de La Concepción: capoeira, batucadas and concertsverified
The Torre de La Concepción in La Laguna hosts a Brazilian day of the 23rd Festival Tensamba. It starts at 11:00 with jiu-jitsu and capoeira, followed by family percussion, Batuque Canario, the inclusive batucada Dibatuka, recycled-instrument and samba workshops and a street parade. In the evening come concerts by Badú Obá (20:30) and Viola e Batuque (22:00) and vinyl sets by Julio Du Norte. Saturday 3 October 2026; workshops and concerts are free.
The day opens at 11:00 with a jiu-jitsu and capoeira exhibition by The Fighters Club Canary Islands, La Laguna Urban Funcional and Camugerê. At 12:30 Vanderson Baobá, who has experience as a member of Banda Olodum, leads a family percussion workshop, and at 13:15 the Batuque Canario of La Laguna’s municipal music school «Guillermo González» performs, a group that grew out of workshops bringing together some seventy people of different generations. The afternoon brings Dibatuka, an inclusive percussion project founded in Tenerife in 2006 (17:00), Alessandro Ferrato’s recycled-instrument workshop, “No tires nada, tócalo primero” (17:30), a street parade by Tambawa Percusión setting off from the Torre de La Concepción (18:30) and a samba workshop with Renata Farias (19:30).
At 20:30 Badú Obá presents “Revive Os Tincoãs” with Hannah Bertoni, Bernardo Martins, Marta Redondo and Miguel Hernández; Badú was a long-standing member of the group from 1975 to 1983. At 22:00, in Viola e Batuque, Marcos Assunção and Marco Lobo bring together the viola caipira and the seven-string guitar with the berimbau and the pandeiro. Julio Du Norte plays an all-vinyl selection at 14:00, 21:30 and 23:15. Workshops, exhibitions, DJ sets and concerts are free, most of them until the space is full. The day runs on Saturday 3 October 2026 from 11:00.
