The IX Feria de Agroecología y Biodiversidad en Canarias closes the IX Foro de Agroecología y Biodiversidad en Canarias, the forum on agroecology and biodiversity of the Gobierno de Canarias, the Canary Islands government, which Gáldar hosts from 22 to 25 October. The fair turns the Plaza de Santiago, the main square of the historic centre of Gáldar, opposite the church of Santiago, into a meeting place for organic producers, seed networks, artists and the public. Coordinated by Cultiv-arte, it brings together organic producers, artists and creatives from the municipality and the island. Visitors can discover the diversity of organic production in the archipelago, join tastings of local products, take part in the exchange of traditional seeds with the Red Canaria de Semillas, the Canary seed network, alongside containers made by artists, and join conversations on healthy and sustainable food.
The fair runs on Sunday 25 October 2026 from 10:00 to 16:45 at the Plaza de Santiago in Gáldar. From 10:00 to 14:30 there are workshops on produce of the land and creative workshops, open to the general public: "Torcer a tres, láminas de rolo de platanera"; "Cianotipia arqueoastronómica"; "Modelando, texturas y colores de las tierras"; "Huellas botánicas"; "Desgranado de millo amarillo de Valleseco"; "Urdido de tipologías ancestrales"; "Impresión tipográfica artesanal" and "Versos para Gáldar". Places for the workshops are booked through an online form. At 10:45 there is the dialogue table "Alimentación saludable y tóxicos" (healthy food and toxic substances); at 12:00, signed contemporary dance and poetry with "Mujeres y Barrancos" (women and ravines); and at 15:00 the day closes with the trío Arife. Entry is free.
