Santa Bárbara's Gran pelanaverified
The pelana closes the Santa Bárbara fiestas: a festive walk through the neighbourhood with music, ending with Los Volcánicos and Generación Zero.
The pelana is one of those customs that reads badly on paper and makes immediate sense once you see it: a festive walk through the streets of the neighbourhood, with music, people joining in along the way. In Santa Bárbara it serves to close the fiestas.
It sets off on Tuesday 1 September at 15:00, with Dj Josu providing the music along the route. On arrival, Los Volcánicos and Generación Zero play.
Being midweek and in the afternoon, it is above all a residents' event, and precisely for that reason it gives a fairly honest picture of what a neighbourhood fiesta looks like from the inside.
