Gran Baile del Remango y fin de fiestas con el Grupo La Calleverified
The Baile del Remango closes the San Luis festivities, a dance more than three hundred years old that was born from a puddle on the Camino Real.
The Baile del Remango is danced in front of the chapel, among cedars and geraniums, and it gives its name to the association that organises the festivities. Its origin lies in a large puddle that formed on the Camino Real from the water of the channel coming down from La Corujera. Those arriving from Buenavista stopped their carts there to water the animals, and from that puddle a popular dance was born: you had to roll up your trousers.
It has been danced for more than three hundred years. Neighbours such as Antonio El Negro, David el de Tita, Manolo el de la Virgen, Domingo El Poeta and Cecilio Hernández kept it alive, and Domingo El Poeta Rodríguez del Rosario wrote verses for it that are still recited.
This year the Grupo La Calle provides the music, and with it the Fiestas de San Luis 2026 come to an end.
