The Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra opens its twelfth season in the Sala Sinfónica of the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus. Conductor Borja Romero, from Tenerife, takes charge of the orchestra for the first time, and the guest soloist is tuba player Óscar Santiso Eiroa.
The programme begins with Aurora Awakes by John Mackey and continues with Génesis, Manuel Bonino's tuba concerto, written at Santiso's request and laid out in three movements: Forja de titanes, Arquitecto de sombras and Danzas del averno. This is its world premiere. After the interval comes Wine Dark Sea, also by Mackey, and the concert runs for 75 minutes with a 10 minute break.
