Fiestas del Carmen (Tazacorte)

Tazacorte, on the west coast of La Palma, celebrates the Fiestas de Nuestra Senora del Carmen with a broad calendar throughout July, with 16 July as its main day. The most anticipated moment is the traditional embarkation of the Virgen del Carmen, when the image is carried in procession by sea accompanied by decorated boats and many faithful. The main day starts early, at 7:00, with a floral reveille, giants and big-heads and a big hot chocolate; at midday the traditional game is held on the sports dock, and at night the sailors' salve and fireworks round off the day.
