Fiestas del Carmen (Puerto de Santiago)

Puerto de Santiago, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide, celebrates the festivities of the Virgen del Carmen, patron of sailors, around 16 July. The central event is the maritime procession, in which the image embarks from the quay and travels along the west coast accompanied by decorated boats and the sound of the fleet's horns. The programme combines religious events, open-air dances and a seafaring atmosphere in one of south-western Tenerife's fishing villages.
