Fiestas del Carmen de La Bajita 2026: festival infantil, caballitos de palo y concurso del lazoverified
A children's festival, a hobby horse parade and a lasso contest, with the band Siempre Ellas at the end.
La Bajita is a neighbourhood of Villa de Mazo, in the east of La Palma, and its fiestas in honour of the Virgen del Carmen run from 31 August to 6 September. They are organised by the AA.VV. Ntra. Señora del Carmen La Bajita, with Villa de Mazo town hall and the Cabildo of La Palma. The feel is a seafaring one, as befits the patron saint.
The caballitos de palo is a children's contest for under 15s: the children parade with toy horses made from a stick. Registration opens at half past seven, the children's festival is at eight, and at half past nine come the parade and the prize giving.
The lasso contest follows, for the best cowboy and cowgirl, for over 15s. Once the contests are over the band Siempre Ellas plays.
Friday 4 September 2026: 19:30 registration for the children's «Caballitos de Palo» contest (under 15s). 20:00 children's festival. 21:30 parade and prize giving of the children's contest, followed by the lasso contest for best cowboy and cowgirl (over 15s). When the contests finish, the band Siempre Ellas performs.
