Fiestas de San Vicente Ferrer y Ntra. Sra. del Pino 2026 (Velhoco): día grande: eucaristía, comida comunitaria, procesión y loaverified
The main day: solemn mass, a shared meal, a musical stroll, the procession and the loa that closes the fiestas.
Velhoco is a neighbourhood of Santa Cruz de La Palma, on the way up towards the mountain, and its fiestas in honour of San Vicente Ferrer and Nuestra Señora del Pino run from 24 August to 6 September. It is a long fortnight, put together by the fiesta committee with the town hall and the parish, and helped along by neighbours and local businesses.
Through the whole week the Plaza El Kiosco Julio stays open with churros, meat and wine.
Sunday is the main day. After mass comes the shared meal and the dessert competition, for which neighbours are asked to contribute.
At night the procession of San Vicente Ferrer and Nuestra Señora del Pino goes through the streets of the neighbourhood, accompanied by the Juvenil La Gaifa bugle and drum band. When it reaches the square the traditional loa is performed and the fiestas are declared over.
Sunday 6 September 2026: 12:45 solemn mass. 14:00 shared meal followed by the dessert competition. 17:00 musical stroll. 20:00 novena. 21:00 procession of San Vicente Ferrer and Ntra. Sra. del Pino through the streets, with the Juvenil La Gaifa bugle and drum band; on reaching the square, the traditional loa and the end of the fiestas.
