San Miguel Arcángel 2026 fiestas in Villa y Puerto de Tazacorteverified

In September Tazacorte celebrates the fiestas in honour of San Miguel Arcángel, patron saint of the municipality and of the whole island of La Palma. The programme opens with the pregón on 3 September, the flag raising on the 4th formally starts the fiestas, and everything runs until the offering to the Virgen de Las Nieves on 11 October, with the main feast day on 29 September.

There is a bit of everything: the Elvis Crespo concert on 26 September and the great open-air dance on the eve of the feast day are the two headline nights, and around them sit two Love Festival nights by the sea, a nine-hour Cuban party, the queen and Lady galas, the parade of artistic floats, the caballos fufos, the offering by the island's municipalities with the municipal band, a craft fair, theatre and a musical, a classic car show, an open-water swim and football, softball, dominoes, padel and tennis tournaments. The religious side fills much of the calendar: besides the solemnity of 29 September, with mass presided over by the bishop, a procession and fireworks, there is the triduum from 26 to 28 September and the octave from 30 September to 6 October in the parish church of San Miguel. Events are split between the old town and Puerto de Tazacorte, a little over a kilometre down towards the sea. Almost everything is outdoors and free; the couples' dance on 3 October is one of the few with a ticket, sold in advance at the Culture and Fiestas department.
